Things to see and do.

The Mount and Papamoa Beach
A white-sand surf beach that goes on forever. The main mount beach is extremely busy in the summer, but Papamoa doesn’t get those numbers, so in our opinion is much more enjoyable! There are surf life-saving stations in summer at various points along the beach.

Papamoa Hills Walk
Right on our doorstep, this is open 6am – 9pm.
Great to get the blood pumping, with wonderful 360 degree views of Mount & Papamoa beach plus the surrounding countryside. The views are spectacular at sunrise or sunset and afterwards, as the city lights turn on.

Mauao (Mount Maunganui)

A beautiful 40 minute walk with sea views, around the mount. Rock pools at low tide for the kids where you may well spot a seal or two. Finish with an ice cream or coffee at the local mount cafes or a spot of boutique shopping in down town mount Maunganui.

Pilot Bay

A beautiful bay and safe swimming for young children as there are no waves. In summer, hobie cats, jetskis and kayaks for hire.

Childrens Playgrounds

There are an abundance of local playgrounds for children. Some notable ones are Mount Drury playground in the Mount and Memorial Park in Tauranga (which also has train rides for littlies on a Sunday)

Mount Maunganui Hotpools
The only natural salt water hot pool in the world. A lovely place to relax after a walk up the mount or for a soak in the evening.

Welcome Bay Hotpools
Approximately 15 minutes drive from us, along Welcome Bay road. Natural hot water pools with lovely surrounds.

Summerhill Park
Right behind us, available for mountain biking, running, walking etc.

Kaiate Falls Walk
A beautiful steep bush walk down to a stream and lovely waterfalls. Approximately 1 hour duration. Dogs are allowed on leads.

Waimarino Adventure Park
Awesome summer family day out – picnic areas, BBQ facilities, kayak the river, trampoline or water slide into the river etc. Check them out online.

Baystation
By the ASB stadium near the Mount, it has Blokarts and Drift trike sessions – so much fun! Next door is outdoor laser tag and paint ball, which are huge fun for all the family. Check them out online!

Movies / Cinema
There are a number of cinemas within a short drive, at Papamoa, Te Puke, Bayfair and Tauranga.

Tauranga Art Gallery
Changing exhibitions all the time and free to enter.

Further afield

We are 30 minutes drive from Lake Rotoiti & 50 minutes from Rotorua (with all of its geothermal attractions, the Redwoods for world class mountain biking/walks and of course an abundance of adrenaline junky activities!)
